GHK-Cu for Hair Loss + Anti-Aging: What I've Seen Actually Work
GHK-Cu, Hair, and Why Where You Inject It Matters Less Than You Think
I've actually seen pictures of guys in our men's group who went on GHK for a period of time and were able to visibly show less baldness, but interestingly enough, actually better, thicker, darker, less gray hair in their face and in their head.
That second part is the one that catches people, because hair growing back is one claim, but hair coming back in with pigment is a different mechanism entirely.
GHK is three amino acids stuck together, glycine, histidine and lysine, and it has a strong affinity for copper, so it grabs a copper ion and carries it. That is what the Cu in the name means. The peptide is the delivery vehicle, copper is the payload, and copper is what a set of enzymes in your skin and hair follicles need to do their job at all.
One of those is something called tyrosinase, which is the enzyme that builds melanin, the pigment that gives hair its color, and it needs copper sitting right at its active site to function. No copper, no melanin, and hair grows in gray.
That is the plausible link between a copper peptide and darker hair, and it's a mechanism story, not a proven outcome. I have not seen a controlled trial where GHK-Cu repigmented gray hair in humans. Photographs are what I have seen instead, and that is a different kind of evidence.
The follicle side runs on a separate pathway. GHK-Cu increases collagen production in the dermis, which is the connective tissue layer the follicle is anchored in, and it improves blood vessel formation in that same layer. A follicle sitting in well-supplied tissue behaves differently than one sitting in thin, poorly perfused skin.
Now, of course, this is kind of an N equals one thing.
I don't know what the other influences were to what he was taking and what he was on, but what he had attributed these changes to 100% was the GHK. When you go with a subcutaneous injection of GHK, you can inject it anywhere into the fat under your skin.
This is where a lot of people get it wrong, and the belief is understandable. With a topical, placement obviously matters, because the compound only works where you put it. People carry that logic over to injections and start asking whether they should inject near the scalp to get scalp benefits.
It's going to systemically flow into your body and you're gonna get the benefit across the board. No, if you inject it, you can do it anywhere, your whole body is gonna get the benefit.
Subcutaneous means into the fat layer under the skin, and that layer is full of capillaries. The peptide absorbs into those capillaries, moves into venous circulation, passes through the heart, and gets distributed everywhere your blood goes. Your scalp is downstream of that just like your knee is.
So the injection site is a comfort and rotation decision. Abdomen, love handle, outer thigh, wherever you have a pinch of fat and clean skin, and rotate so you are not irritating one spot over and over.
On results, here is the honest framing. I have seen visible changes in photos from men who credit GHK entirely. That is not the same as knowing GHK caused them, because diet changed, sleep changed, other compounds were in play, and none of it was controlled for.
What I trust more than the photos is the mechanism. Copper-dependent enzymes need copper, and GHK is very good at getting copper where it needs to go.
If your hair is thinning because the tissue around the follicle is degrading, that is a problem GHK plausibly addresses. If it is thinning because DHT is hammering genetically sensitive follicles, GHK is a small nudge against a strong current, and you would want something stronger doing the heavy lifting.
Most people asking about GHK for hair are really asking whether they can skip the thing that actually works, and that question deserves an answer before the peptide does.
