I call it the "I Don't Have Time" game. It goes like this: Whenever you're faced with a new challenge, like trying to get in shape, you say to yourself, "I don't have time." Then you sit back and relax, content in the knowledge that you've dodged another bullet.
Sounds fun, right? Wrong. This game sucks. It's the worst game ever. And yet, so many of us play it every single day.
It's more valuable than money, possessions, or anything else. You can always make more money, but you can never make more time. So why do we waste so much of it?
The answer is simple: we're scared. We're scared of failure, and we're scared of success. We're scared of what people will think of us, and we're scared of what we'll think of ourselves. We're scared of change, and we're scared of staying the same. We're scared of everything.
It's not real. It's just a bunch of thoughts in our heads, telling us that we can't do something. And that's bullshit. You can do anything you want, as long as you're willing to put in the time and effort.
So stop playing the "I Don't Have Time" game. It's time to start playing the "I'm Going to Make Time" game. Decide what's important to you, and make it a priority. If that means waking up an hour earlier to go to the gym, do it. If that means meal prepping on Sundays so you don't have to worry about cooking during the week, do it. If that means reading a book on personal development every night before bed, do it.
And when you feel yourself slipping back into old habits, remind yourself of why you started in the first place. Think about the kind of person you want to be, and the life you want to have. And then ask yourself: is playing the "I Don't Have Time" game going to get me there?
The answer is no. So let's stop playing. It's time to start winning.
