Why the FDA Can't Stop Peptides

The best way that I can describe my opinion on what's happening in the peptide market is similar to what happened during Prohibition in the early 1900s. The government banned something people were already using, the supply moved underground, and the ban created the exact market it was trying to kill.

Prohibition did not stop drinking. It moved drinking into a supply chain the government could not see, could not tax, and could not control. Bootlegging became an industry overnight.

This was now unregulated revenue that was no longer going into the tax system, which was basically crippling the U.S. economy. Add public resentment on top of lost tax revenue and you get a policy that fails on both ends at once.

The same pattern played out again with marijuana, just slower and with less violence. It's kind of one of those things that California is an example where it's like everybody's already buying and using and smoking weed. So why not just legalize it so at least we can capitalize on the taxpayer money that comes from it.

There is a clip that came from the show Ozark that was basically talking about how the only thing that held up the U.S. economy during the 2008 collapse was illegal drug trade, narco dollars. So the young boy who was funny, he was talking about how why would I say that I'm against drugs and alcohol when yes, it's bad that people get addicted to these things.

But at the end of the day, we have to be realist about the fact that the money that comes from these things is actually propping up the education system and everything in between.

Peptides are in that same position now. They are mainstream, they are widely accepted, and the enforcement is arriving years after the behavior became normal.

And the fact that the FDA, the U.S. government and the modern medical industry is trying to push back against these so hard just makes the problem for them even worse.

Because now not only are people against the government and its policies against peptides, but they're also turning against the U.S. medical system because they don't believe that these doctors in these organizations have the patient's best interest at heart, right? So what's occurring? Well, we're getting this era of information, of personal responsibility where people are now taking their own health into their own hands and they're literally boycotting the industry that's trying to push back on these things.

And they're seeing better outcomes and that's the worst part.

When the thing you banned works better than the thing you are selling, enforcement stops being a safety message and starts being read as a business decision. That is the trust problem, and no press release fixes it.

So the U.S. government, the pharmaceutical industry and the Western medical system are in between a rock and a hard place because they understand that the peptide thing is out of the bag.

The economics are what make it unfixable for them. It's something that's very difficult to monetize.

They're being imported en masse from other countries and now it's directly limiting these pharmaceutical companies and these medical companies and these insurance and hospitals and doctors' ability to earn revenue. So the response shifts from regulation to messaging, warnings about contamination, warnings about fentanyl, stories about deaths.

They're literally grasping at sand trying to do everything that they can do to scare public opinion against, we'll say, unregulated peptides.

So the Trump administration and honestly whoever takes office afterwards when it comes to the executive branch of government has a very, very big fucking problem to solve.
