CJC-1295 and Ipamorelin: Why the 5-On, 2-Off Protocol Is Mostly a Sales Tactic
Can I run CJC and hypermorelin seven days per week or five on two off? So the five on two off kind of comes from two things. Neither of them is what most people think.
Before getting into the schedule, you need the chain. Your hypothalamus releases something called growth hormone releasing hormone, or GHRH, which travels a short distance to your pituitary and tells it to release growth hormone. At the same time, your stomach releases ghrelin, which hits a different receptor on that same pituitary and amplifies the pulse. Then growth hormone travels to your liver and drives IGF-1, which is where most of the downstream effects you actually care about come from.
CJC-1295 and tesamorelin are copies of that first signal. They mimic GHRH. Ipamorelin is a copy of the second signal. It mimics ghrelin at the receptor.
That distinction is the whole reason one of these needs cycling and the other does not.
The first is like old school bodybuilders, they didn't wanna shut down their production of growth hormone and having that two days off was enough to give their pituitary the ability to continue to fire and not shut down. The logic was borrowed from exogenous growth hormone, where injecting the finished product creates negative feedback all the way up the chain and your own pituitary gets the message that it can stand down.
That concern is real when you inject actual growth hormone. But GHRH analogs work one step upstream, and instead of replacing the signal they amplify it, so your pituitary is still doing the work.
Studies now tell us that regardless of how long you're on the growth hormone for, it only takes at most a couple of days for your pituitary to start producing GH on its own. So that's not really necessary.
Think about it like a light switch that gets stuck for a weekend rather than a fuse that blows. The wiring was never damaged, the signal just paused.
But the second reason why they recommend the five on two off and this is kind of spilled over into the scumbag TRT clinics that you see out there pushing peptides is that this shit they're already selling for a fucking arm and a leg. So to make the price of what they're selling this stuff more digestible, what they'll do is they'll suggest you go onto a five on two off because it extends the length of time that you get that cycle for and it makes it so that they can do a better job of selling it to you.
Run the math. A vial that would last four weeks at seven days a week stretches to almost six weeks at five days a week, and the monthly invoice drops while the price per milligram stays exactly the same.
Ipamorelin is different, and it needs a real break, because ghrelin receptors downregulate with constant stimulation the same way most receptor systems do when you keep the signal permanently on.
So the practical version looks like this. CJC-1295 or tesamerelin runs continuously, no breaks, because there is nothing to recover from. And the only thing that you need to cycle would be the Iporelin, which would be a 90 on 30 off type of thing.
The thirty days off is not about your pituitary resting. It is about your ghrelin receptors resensitizing so that when you start again, the same dose produces the same pulse height it did on day one.
If you are on a five on two off protocol right now and it is working for you, nothing bad is happening. You are just paying full price for partial dosing, and the two days off are not buying you the protection you were told they were.
